Sewage Pumping Station for homeowners

Sewage Pumping Station

What is a Sewage Pumping Station?

Sewage treatment pumping stations are an additional tank that can be connected to your wastewater treatment plant for the use of pumping fluids from one place to another where a gravity tank can not be used.

For a single domestic dwelling the Tricel domestic pumping system is used primarily for the transfer of sewage from:

  • A dwelling to a Tricel Sewage Treatment System at a raised location
  • A single house in an estate which is lower than the main pumping station in the estate

We manufacture 1,000-litre and 1,600-litre standard domestic pump stations in accordance with the building regulations. The Tricel packaged pump station contains:

  • Underground tank made from GRP (glass reinforced plastic)
  • Inlet point
  • Outlet point
  • Submersible pump
  • Control panel and alarm

Dual pumps are also available.

How a Sewage Treatment Pumping Station Works?

Tricel pumping stations are used where gravity drainage is not possible. The tank is constructed from GRP and collects the effluent or foul water from low-lying developments and pumps to a main sewer or treatment plant. It may also be used to pump from a sewage treatment plant to the raised bed percolation area. The Tricel® pumping station is fitted with a control float, which activates the pump to pump specific volumes when the capacity has reached a pre-defined level.

Pumping chambers contain a chamber, pump, pump controls, float and / or an alarm, based on individual requirements. Multiple and back-up pumps are also available.

The pump process is controlled with the use of control float. Control floats are set to turn on and off at predefined levels for pumping a specific volume of effluent per dose.

Our pump stations are designed to meet building regulations, including  Document H1 (“Foul Drainage”). This stipulates that:

“Where foul drainage from a dwelling or building is to be pumped, the effluent receiving chamber should be sized to contain 24 hours inflow to allow for disruptions due to power failures or breakdown. The minimum daily discharge of foul drainage should be taken as 150 litres per day per person for domestic use.”

Custom-designed pump stations

At Tricel we also design  tailored pump stations to suit our customers’ specific requirements in terms of:

  • Volume of inflow
  • Dual or single pumps
  • Tank dimensions/capacity
  • Electrical connections available
  • Pumping distance/height
