Tricel has strategically expanded the company’s already strong position within the UK fibreglass market. The company has achieved this through acquiring Glasplies Ltd., which is a highly established supply and distribution operator for this sector. This latest acquisition is in Merseyside in Southport, where it will serve to strengthen an already very successful and extensive network of operations.
As well as being a highly established supplier of products for the more traditional fibreglass markets, such as moulding and boat building, Glasplies Ltd. also distribute a range of specialist products for roofing and other custom applications. Glasplies Ltd. is one of the longest independently established suppliers of Glass Reinforced Products (GRP) operating in the UK market. The company has over half a century’s successful operating experience in supplying all aspects of the fibreglass supplies industry. Tricel’s latest addition will act as a distribution gateway between an already established presence in both the South and the North of the country.
The Head of Materials Division for Tricel, Mr. Robbie Larkin, commented on this latest move by the company by stating “we are delighted to welcome Glasplies to the Group. The acquisition of Glasplies is part of Tricel’s and the Materials Division’s growth strategy. With over 50 years’ experience in fibreglass distribution, Glasplies strengthens our position in the fibreglass market in the UK and Ireland. With this purchase comes the wealth of experience and insight which Glasplies Ltd. has developed and earned over many years of successful operations. Such elements and attributes are highly prized and can only add innovative value to the development of Tricel’s overall operating strategy within the regions”.
Earlier this year the company also acquired Fiberglass Supplies (Leeds) Ltd., one of the UK’s leading suppliers and distributors of roofing and composite materials. Along with its most recent acquisitions and existing distribution centres in Newry and Gloucester, Tricel have established a very strong presence in fibreglass distribution markets throughout the UK and Ireland.
Consequently, this move is the latest in a series undertaken by Tricel in order to further its growth strategy in the lead up to 2020. In recent months the company has made an addition of a second manufacturing site based in the South of France which extends its Environmental Division. This move was necessary in order to meet the growing demand for the range of Tricel products.
The company has seen strong growth year on year within various markets. The business has evolved from its beginnings as a small family owned enterprise into what is today a world recognised and highly trusted brand. Tricel now distributes innovative products to over 50 countries worldwide from an established networks of operations based in over 5 countries.
